ISLAND BASE RADIO

100% independently owned and operated, Island Base was launched in March 2019 as a fully operational radio station in Samoa and sister station of Base FM New Zealand.

With the 2020 Covid-inforced lockdowns came the re-brand to Island Base Trust and sole focus on delivering programmes and events within Aotearoa. 


A media hub called Island Base, that authentially reached out into the South Pacific and created a form of hope and unity amongst pacific artists that would often not exceed their their own shores (or homes).
The mission: to connect the sounds and people of the South Pacific and build a platform of collaborations between New Zealand, Australia and the islands.
During its launch, the Island Base FM team brought over established international artists to Samoa such as Poetik, Lion Rezz, Israel Starr (NZ), DTP (AUS), Justin Wellington (PNG) and numerous DJs for shows and to find, showcase and them up with local talent.

Island Base FM created a great platform by combining content locally and internationally through  hosting events, workshops and community projects.

Today, ‘ISLAND BASE’ operates as a charity within Aotearoa exclusively but continues to follow its vision of Connecting the people & sounds of the South Pacific in the form of:

  1. Island Base FM – An Online radio station, streaming live content 24/7 from NZ into the islands and neyond via www.islandbasefm.com and the Island Base FM APP (both free & worldwide).

  2. Island Base Events/Production/Promotion – Organising and producing free community events that combine local new and established artists on the same stage. Creating Event artwork, videos and promotional material all produced in-house by our young people.

  3. Island Base Recordings – A recording studio with a number of local producer, connecting local talent of all kind with international artists (singers, musicians, DJs & producers) and to fine-tune their original work to be premiered at partner stations NiuFM & Flava and playlisted on Island Base FM.

By artists For artists, with the overall vision of ‘mixing things up’ by building a platform that promotes music across the South Pacific and enabling artists to:

  • Record their music

  • Play it live 

  • Get the music out to the their people here and around the world
